3D Map -Phase 1

Something I am having fun doing right now. It's a map of my home town done in 3D format.
The backing is a piece of masonic I happen to have laying around.

Steps so far:

1. paint the masonite board white to clean it up.
2. google the map, project it onto the board and trace it in pencil.
3. roll up pages of an old phone book, cut and glue onto the "roads."

I use a different roll size to represent smaller country roads versus major roads. Plus it adds variety.

  1. This is a very cool map and will be good to hang on the wall to make a abstract piece. Maybe use some spray paint or acrylics to add some color to it (not too much)and will make it more stand out and add the depth to the map. Just a thought.

  2. What a fun project! It's looking really cool. Hope you show us all the finished piece!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and your nice comments. Happy Holidays!
