Backpacker Design

I cleaned up the backpacker sketch from the last Illustration Friday theme.
This is the marker version. I also did a watercolor version, which I might post later on once I do figure out how... he,  he.

In the mean time, enjoy these two from my zazzle shop.

I happened to find the dancing blender site by accident. I felt that I had to comment on the hiker art work. I feel that my pen and ink renderings are even better than my color work. That means that I do much the same as you do. I work the drawing and sometimes I remove extra lines and shading to make my art piece stronger visually. It has always been hard to keep from overworking a piece. I think that the key is fresh and minimal. I really like the hiker and the colorful backgrounds that you used on the web examples. I had a summer art teacher who made us study Paul Klee and the line in keeping drawing clean and very minimalist art . Is the hiker for a series that you expect to sell to the public or are you getting a gallery showing ready? I like the fresh subject matter.

  3. The hiker is part of what I call the Great Outdoors Sports series. I do mostly sell the images through zazzle though I also directly show/sale posters to live venues whenever possible.
