3D Map -Phase 3

I have finally gotten around to painting the background on the map -and quite pleased with it. Take a look.

J'ai finalement peint le fond de mon petit project de carte -et pas si mal, je dois dire. Ca me plait. Regardez un peu.

3D Map -Phase 2

Ok, here Phase 2 of my little 3D map project.

The entire map is covered with brown industrial paper towel:
First brush on water diluted Elmer's glue, the apply the paper towel, and finally recoat the towel with enough glue to soak through. The paper towel is molded carefully to keep the design of the map.


Once dry, apply a good coat of white gesso over the whole thing.

3D Map -Phase 1

Something I am having fun doing right now. It's a map of my home town done in 3D format.
The backing is a piece of masonic I happen to have laying around.

Steps so far:

1. paint the masonite board white to clean it up.
2. google the map, project it onto the board and trace it in pencil.
3. roll up pages of an old phone book, cut and glue onto the "roads."

I use a different roll size to represent smaller country roads versus major roads. Plus it adds variety.

Ranger Poster #1-2

More Ranger sketches.

I cleaned up page 1 and did more sketches for page 2. Trying to make him look bigger and more Paul Bunyan-ish, and with also a more tong-in-cheek approach.

J'ai passé la première page à l'encre et fait des nouveaux rapides pour le Ranger. J'éssay de le faire plus impréssionant, plus musclé, et moin sérieux aussi.

IF -Extreme

Extreme Sport: Fresh Powder

Snow Boarding is amazing to watch and most certainly an extreme sport in my eyes.

Regarder un doué faire du "Snow Boarding" est extraordinaire, et je pense, ce sport qualifie comme "sport extreme".

Following is the progression for this illustration. First the sketch, then the cleaned up drawing done with black gel pen.Voici l'évolution de mon illustration, en commençant par le rapide, puis le dessin nétoyé et passé à l'encre.

Next, prisma colors for the surfer and watercolor for the background.
Ensuite, crayon de couleur et un fond en peinture à l'eau.

Then a little play time with Photoshop, and Voila!

Le tout assemblé compliment Photoshop. Et voilà le travail !

IF -Alphabet

For this Alphabet theme, I started out wanting to use XYZ (rather than ABC), as in "etc., etc.," and then came up with from ABC to XYZ, i.e. begining to end, or one thing to another. Eventually, when I started the page, it evolved to what you see now.

I've been away all summer and now I am back! AND, re-inspired to do something with this blog. I'll share new things along the way besides sketches. Stay tuned.

For now, here's the "central heating" for the Colorado cabin I stayed in.

I went back and finally finished the perspective drawing.

I am trying to scan it and reassemble it in Photoshop, but so far it's not exactly matching. Hm.

J'ai finalement finie mon dessin de perspective.

J'éssay de la passer au scanner et réassembler en un morceau, mais jusqu'a présent, les lines ne se retrouvent pas exactement. Je continue.
