La Loire River Watercolor

This watercolor of the river "La Loire" in France is the last of the needed illustration for the upcoming book of short stories.

I am very excited about seeing this project through, and getting the book in hand soon!
This first one will be in French - so for all you French speaking folks, keep an eye here for the announcement, most likely soon after Christmas.

Grand Fireplace

I was trying to convey the sense of an old grand fireplace. In retrospect I might need to add a slight touch of brighter color.

I'm doing this with a black marker. I'll be making b&w copies on light cardstock and might color a couple if I get a chance.

Weeping Angels Sketch Card Process

Every once in a while I like to do a "process" post - one where I post all the stages at once instead of as separate posts, to show the entire evolution all at once.

I'm doing a lot of sketch cards (a,k.a. Trading cards or ACEO) of late, because, for one thing they're fun to do, and also because they are more and more popular at book shows.

I went to see the new Star Trek: Into Darkness yesterday. It's an action  packed movie for sure,, and does a good job re-inventing the original characters while also respective what they're about.

I finished the Harry Potter trading cards with a watercolor background, just to try it out.
I like the end result actually, and will occasionally use watercolor again on future cards.
